Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 Blood Donor Program

Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 has been an active participant in the Blood Donor Program for many years.

BloodSource, has only been keeping computerize records since 1/01/1985, and our council’s involvement dates back to the very beginning when BloodSource switched to a computerized record keeping system.  However, our council has been associated with the program probably from the time the council was charted.

BloodSource originally operated under the name Sacramento Medical Foundation. In the spring of 2002 the name was changed to “BloodSource” to better reflect the services that they provided.

Donors can donate whole blood every 8 weeks.  Blood products such as plasma, platelets, etc can be donated more often.

Our council sponsors a blood drive every 2 months. Six blood drives a year are scheduled on the Third Sunday of February, April, June, August, October and December in conjunction with the Parish Family which is also hosted by the council.

A person does not need to be a member of the Knights of Columbus to donate blood at our blood drives.  All members of St. John Parish Community and the community of Rancho Cordova at large are invited and encouraged to donate.  Donors who are members of the Knights of Columbus Donor Club are entitled to all the benefits available if and when you or a member of your family should ever need blood.

Here are some interesting facts and statistics:

Since January of 1985, when BloodSource converted to computerization, 231 donors have donated 1,111 units of blood through our council's Blood Donor Club.   The single highest donor during this period is 383 units.
