Dean's connection to St. John Vianney Parish is a lifelong one. He was baptized here as an infant, and it has remained the only parish he has ever called home. His deep roots in our parish community reflect a lifelong commitment to his Catholic faith and the people of St. John Vianney.
Professionally, Dean serves our nation's veterans at Mather VA Hospital, where he is dedicated to caring for those who have served our country. His desire to serve extends beyond his profession, as he joined the Knights of Columbus because he wanted to give back to the community and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
As he begins his journey as a Brother Knight, Dean's goal is simple and inspiring: to better understand what it truly means to be a Knight of Columbus. Through charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism, we know he will discover the many opportunities to grow in faith, serve others, and build lasting friendships with his Brother Knights.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Brother Knight Robert Saria to the Knights of Columbus Blessed Sacrament Council 5322!
Robert and his wife, Sarah, have been parishioners of St. John Vianney since 2005, when they moved to the local area with their children, Lauren and Matthew. Their family quickly found a home in our parish and has remained an active part of the community ever since.
Robert has dedicated his career to the pursuit of justice. He practiced criminal law for more than 30 years, serving 17 years as a Deputy District Attorney and 15 years as a criminal defense attorney. In 2023, he began serving as an Administrative Law Judge with the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board. His wife, Sarah, is also an attorney and serves with the California Judicial Council.
Before his legal career, Robert proudly served our nation in the United States Army. A graduate of Army ROTC at the University of Southern California, he was commissioned into Military Intelligence with a specialty in Counterintelligence, serving in both active duty and reserve assignments until 1994. Military service is a proud family tradition, spanning three generations, including his grandfather, father, and sister, who is an Air Force veteran.
Although Robert and Sarah are Filipino, they were both raised in Hawai'i, and the Hawaiian culture remains a central part of their family's identity. They are actively involved in the Sacramento Hawaiian community, where Sarah continues the cherished tradition of dancing hula, a beautiful expression of faith, culture, and heritage.
Robert's favorite saint is Saint Damien of Molokai, whose life of selfless service to those suffering from Hansen's disease on the island of Moloka'i has long inspired him.
As he begins his journey as a Brother Knight, Robert looks forward to serving God, supporting our parish, and building lasting friendships with men who share his faith, values, and commitment to Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.

Sebastian has been a parishioner at St. John Vianney for the past year and a half. He works as a Fiber Networks IT Technician and proudly served our country as a United States Air Force veteran.
In his free time, Sebastian enjoys fishing, spending time at the shooting range, and hitting golf balls. His decision to become a Knight was inspired by a desire to serve others through charity while being part of a strong Catholic brotherhood.
During his first year as a Brother Knight, Sebastian hopes to serve his parish and support the local community through faith and service.
Sebastian draws inspiration from Psalm 91, a powerful reminder of God's protection and faithful presence.

While his journey of faith began at an early age, he shares that his relationship with Christ truly came alive at 15. For the past four years, he has been actively involved in parish life, growing in faith and service.
Outside of church, he enjoys weightlifting, spending time at the park, volunteering, and hanging out with friends. Professionally, he works as a cable harness assembler for a manufacturing company and is pursuing his goal of joining the Sacramento Sheriff's Department, where he hopes to continue serving and protecting others.
His inspiration to become a Knight of Columbus began around age 17, when he witnessed the men of the parish faithfully volunteering and serving their community. As he continued to grow in his faith, he learned about the Cristero War in Mexico and was deeply moved by the courage and sacrifice of the Knights who supported the Cristeros during that time. Their unwavering commitment to defending the Catholic faith inspired him to follow in their footsteps.
As he begins his first year as a Brother Knight, his goal is simple yet meaningful: to serve his community as much as possible while continuing to grow closer to God through his Catholic faith.
We are truly blessed to welcome him into Blessed Sacrament Council 5322. May his journey as a Knight be filled with faith, friendship, fraternity, and opportunities to live out the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.
