Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
September 8
Today, the Church joyfully celebrates the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary—the woman chosen by God to become the Mother of Jesus Christ and our spiritual mother. Although Sacred Scripture does not describe Mary’s birth, this ancient feast reminds us that her life was part of God’s loving plan for our salvation. Through Mary’s humble and faithful “yes,” the Son of God entered the world and brought us the hope of eternal life. Mary’s example calls every Catholic Knight to live with humility, obedience, purity, courage, and complete trust in God. We honor her most faithfully when we draw closer to her Son through prayer, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Holy Eucharist, service to families, and care for those in need. On this beautiful Marian feast, let us pray the Rosary, attend Mass if possible, and entrust our families, parish, council, nation, and all those needing God’s mercy to Mary’s maternal intercession. “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. We are looking for 3 more volunteers to help support our upcoming Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. John Vianney School.
We are also asking all Brother Knights to help spread the word by sharing the event with your family, friends, and fellow parishioners. We hope to have a strong turnout, especially from SJV School students and children throughout our parish community. This is a great opportunity for the Knights to support our youth, bring families together, and strengthen the connection between our Council, parish, and school. Brothers, if you have children who are Catholic students in grades 8–12 and are members of St. John Vianney Parish, please encourage them to participate in our 2026–2027 Knights of Columbus Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest.

Congratulations to Sir Knight Joseph Fisher!
Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 proudly recognizes Brother Joseph Fisher on becoming a Fourth Degree Knight at the 164th Exemplification of Patriotism, held on September 5, 2026, at St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church in North Highlands. The Fourth Degree calls Catholic men to live their faith publicly, defend religious liberty, promote civic responsibility, and serve as examples of faithful citizenship. Sir Knights support veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders, and community initiatives that strengthen the bonds among faith, family, and country. By entering the Fourth Degree, Sir Knight Joseph embraces the principle of Patriotism and renews his commitment to serve God, Church, country, and community with faith, honor, charity, and unity. Supporting Brother Joseph at the ceremony were PGK Derrick Andrade and PGK Frank Donagher, PFN. Please join us in congratulating SK Joseph Fisher on this important milestone in his journey as a Knight of Columbus. Five are studying at Mount Angel Seminary in St. Benedict, Oregon, while 12 are studying at St. Patrick’s Seminary & University in Menlo Park, California.
Our sponsored seminarian, Tuan Nguyen, whom Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 is proud to support, will continue his priestly formation at Mount Angel Seminary during this new academic year. Please keep Tuan and all our diocesan seminarians in your prayers as they continue discerning and answering God’s call to the priesthood. Knight of the Month – August 2026
Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 is proud to recognize SK Trung Nguyen as our Knight of the Month for August.
Although Trung has been a Brother Knight for less than a year, he has quickly become an active and dedicated member of our council. His willingness to serve wherever needed reflects the true spirit of the Knights of Columbus. Trung has participated in numerous council, parish, and community activities. He serves on the St. John Vianney Catholic School Safety Advisory Committee (CSAC), helping support facilities and safety initiatives for our parish and school. He has also volunteered at youth fundraisers, including the Steubenville Youth Car Wash, and regularly lends a helping hand at council and parish events. Above all, Trung is a humble servant of God who quietly serves wherever he is needed. While balancing the demands of work, family, parish ministry, and his responsibilities as a Brother Knight, he continues to answer God's call with generosity, humility, and dedication. Thank you, Trung, for your faithful service and for living the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism each day. Congratulations on being selected as our Knight of the Month! Congratulations to Brother Daniel Rossi and his family on being selected as Blessed Sacrament Council 5322's Family of the Month!
Although Daniel is a recent transfer to our council, he has already demonstrated what it means to live the principles of the Knights of Columbus through faith and service. Before officially becoming a member of our council, Daniel and his father, SK David Rossi, generously volunteered their time and talents to support St. John Vianney Parish and School. Together, they spent three to five days helping install 18 new classroom whiteboards, each weighing nearly 100 pounds. In addition to his volunteer service, Daniel is an active member of the Finance Council at St. John Vianney Parish, continuing his commitment to strengthening our parish community. Daniel and his family remind us that true leadership begins with a willing heart and a spirit of service. We are grateful to have them as part of our council and look forward to serving alongside them for many years to come. Congratulations to the Rossi Family! |
Knights Support the Turo-Turo Food Sale
The Turo-Turo Food Sale, hosted by the Filipino American Apostolate (FAA), was a wonderful fundraiser supporting the upcoming San Lorenzo Ruiz Fiesta.
Many of our Brother Knights came out to serve and support the event, including FAA President Chester Palonpon and Grand Knight Roy Carlisle, along with many other Knights who helped behind the scenes or simply came hungry to enjoy and support the delicious Filipino breakfast and lunch offerings.
The response from our parish community was tremendous! The food was so popular that many of the breakfast favorites were already sold out by the end of the first Mass.
Events like Turo-Turo are about more than great food. They bring our parish family together through faith, fellowship, culture, and service while supporting the celebration of San Lorenzo Ruiz, the first Filipino saint and martyr.
We thank the Filipino American Apostolate, our Brother Knights, volunteers, parishioners, and everyone who supported the fundraiser.
Together in faith, together in service, and together as one parish family.
