The Power of the Rosary
The Holy Rosary is a beautiful prayer that draws us closer to Jesus through the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As we meditate on the mysteries of Christ's life, we grow in faith, find peace, and strengthen our relationship with God.
Praying the Rosary before Mass helps prepare our hearts to receive Christ in the Holy Eucharist with greater reverence and devotion. It quiets our minds, unites our parish in prayer, and invites Mary to lead us closer to her Son. Praying the Rosary daily at home strengthens families, nurtures faith, and reminds us to place our trust in God through every joy and challenge. Even a few minutes each day can bring peace, hope, and unity to our homes. As Knights of Columbus and faithful Catholics, let us continue to make the Rosary a daily part of our lives and encourage others to do the same. Our newest member has been connected to St. John Vianney Parish since infancy, having been baptized here. While his journey of faith began at an early age, he shares that his relationship with Christ truly came alive at 15. For the past four years, he has been actively involved in parish life, growing in faith and service.
Outside of church, he enjoys weightlifting, spending time at the park, volunteering, and hanging out with friends. Professionally, he works as a cable harness assembler for a manufacturing company and is pursuing his goal of joining the Sacramento Sheriff's Department, where he hopes to continue serving and protecting others. His inspiration to become a Knight of Columbus began around age 17, when he witnessed the men of the parish faithfully volunteering and serving their community. As he continued to grow in his faith, he learned about the Cristero War in Mexico and was deeply moved by the courage and sacrifice of the Knights who supported the Cristeros during that time. Their unwavering commitment to defending the Catholic faith inspired him to follow in their footsteps. As he begins his first year as a Brother Knight, his goal is simple yet meaningful: to serve his community as much as possible while continuing to grow closer to God through his Catholic faith. We are truly blessed to welcome him into Blessed Sacrament Council 5322. May his journey as a Knight be filled with faith, friendship, fraternity, and opportunities to live out the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Welcome, Brother! Vivat Jesus! I am truly proud to be a Knight of Columbus and to stand beside each of you as part of an organization that is making a lasting difference throughout the world. Whether you have just joined our Order or have dedicated decades to serving our Church and community, you are part of something far greater than yourself. The Knights of Columbus are built upon the timeless principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Every act of service, every volunteer hour, every prayer, and every helping hand reflects our commitment to Christ as we serve others. One example that fills me with pride is our partnership with the American Wheelchair Mission and the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation. As Knights, we often don't see every life we touch, but through our collective efforts, we are changing lives every day. Whether we are serving our parish, supporting our families, helping our neighbors, or reaching people across the globe, we are united in a common mission to put our faith into action. To our new Knights, thank you for answering the call to serve. To our longtime Knights, thank you for your years of faithful dedication and for mentoring the next generation of Catholic gentlemen. Together, we continue Blessed Michael McGivney's vision and ensure that the principles of our Order remain strong for generations to come. Celebrating the Charter Anniversary of Blessed Sacrament Council 5322On July 14, 1962, Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 was officially chartered, marking the beginning of a proud tradition of faith, fraternity, and service to our parish and community.
For more than six decades, generations of Brother Knights have answered the call to live the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Through countless volunteer hours, charitable works, parish ministries, youth programs, support for our priests and seminarians, and unwavering dedication to our Catholic faith, Council 5322 has made a lasting impact on St. John Vianney Parish, the Rancho Cordova community, and beyond. While our service to the Church and community is at the heart of what we do, one of the greatest blessings of our council is the brotherhood we share. Through years of serving side by side, praying together, and supporting one another, we have built lasting friendships that extend far beyond our meetings and events. We celebrate together, face challenges together, and stand beside one another in times of joy and sorrow. The memories we create—whether serving at parish events, volunteering in our community, participating in council activities, or simply sharing a meal and fellowship—become part of our council's enduring legacy. As we celebrate our charter anniversary, we honor the vision and commitment of our founding members, whose faith and leadership established a legacy that continues to inspire us today. We also recognize and thank every Brother Knight—past and present—whose dedication, generosity, and friendship have helped shape Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 into the strong and vibrant brotherhood it is today. Today, we remain committed to the ideals established by our founder, Blessed Michael J. McGivney, by strengthening Catholic families, supporting our clergy, serving those in need, and building a culture of faith, hope, and charity. As we look to the future, may we continue to grow in brotherhood, welcome new members, and faithfully answer Christ's call to serve. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Grand Knight Roy Carlisle, our Council Officers, and all of the Brother Knights of Blessed Sacrament Council 5322, whose leadership, dedication, and support helped make this Charity, Unity, and Fraternity Exemplification a meaningful and memorable occasion. Diocese of Sacramento 13th Annual Vocations Benefit DinnerIt was an honor for members of Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 to attend the Diocese of Sacramento's 13th Annual Vocations Benefit Dinner on July 11, 2026.
Our council was proud to stand alongside Brother Knights from councils throughout the Diocese of Sacramento, united in our shared commitment to support and promote vocations to the priesthood. The evening provided a wonderful opportunity for Knights of Columbus from across Northern California to come together in faith and fraternity while raising funds to support our 17 diocesan seminarians as they continue their journey toward the priesthood. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting Tuan Nguyen, the seminarian our council proudly sponsors. Tuan is currently in the Discipleship Stage IV of his formation, and it was a true blessing to meet him in person, learn more about his vocational journey, and assure him of our continued prayers and support. Another memorable moment of the evening was the opportunity for members of Blessed Sacrament Council 5322 to meet and take a group photo with Bishop Jaime Soto. It was a privilege to spend time with our bishop and celebrate our shared commitment to fostering and supporting vocations throughout the Diocese of Sacramento. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the parish community of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and especially to Rev. Guillermo Hernandez, for their warm hospitality and gracious hosting of this year's Vocations Benefit Dinner. Their generosity and dedication helped make the evening a joyful celebration of faith, fraternity, and hope for the future of our Church. As Knights of Columbus, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting vocations through prayer, encouragement, and charitable giving. We ask our parish family and Brother Knights to continue praying for Tuan, for all seminarians, and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. May God continue to guide and strengthen those who have answered His call to serve His Church. The Knights of Columbus is proud to recognize SK Dan Almond and SK Joseph Henderson (PGK) as our Co-Knights of the Month for July. This recognition honors their exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and countless hours of volunteer service in coordinating and leading our Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Sales Fundraiser. Serving as Co-Chairs of this year's fundraiser, Dan and Joseph worked tirelessly behind the scenes for weeks to ensure every aspect of the event was successful. From planning and organizing volunteers to coordinating schedules, managing daily operations, and ensuring the booth ran efficiently, their commitment never wavered. Their servant leadership inspired countless Brother Knights, Catholic Daughters, parishioners, and community members to come together in support of our council's mission. Dan and Joseph exemplify what it means to be Knights of Columbus—leading by example, serving with humility, and placing the needs of others before their own. Altar Servers Appreciation Celebration
The Knights of Columbus Council 5322 was honored to host an Altar Servers Appreciation Celebration as a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the young men and women who faithfully serve at the altar during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Our altar servers play an essential role in the liturgy by assisting our priests with reverence, dedication, and a spirit of service. Their commitment helps ensure that every Mass is celebrated with dignity and inspires our parish community to worship more deeply. Through their faithful service, they set a wonderful example of devotion and discipleship for all.
This celebration was our way of recognizing their countless hours of service, thanking them for their dedication, and encouraging them to continue growing in their faith and relationship with Christ. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the parents and families whose love, encouragement, and support make this important ministry possible.
As Knights of Columbus, we remain committed to supporting the youth of our parish, fostering future vocations, and encouraging young people to answer God's call to serve His Church with joyful hearts.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Brother Knights who generously volunteered their time and talents to grill and prepare a delicious meal for our altar servers and their families. Throughout the week, countless volunteers gave their time and talents to staff our annual Fireworks Sales Booth, making this important fundraiser a tremendous success. Your commitment, teamwork, and spirit of service exemplify the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity while supporting our parish and its ministries.
We concluded the celebration by proudly participating in the Fourth of July Parade, where we gathered as brothers, sisters, families, and friends to celebrate the birth of our nation. It was a joyful opportunity to celebrate our freedom, share our faith, strengthen our fellowship, and create lasting memories together.
We would also like to extend special recognition and heartfelt appreciation to Co-Chairs SK Dan Almond and SK Joseph Henderson for leading the charge throughout this year's Fireworks Fundraiser.
