Ascending in Faith and Hope

Picture
As we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord this Sunday May 17th, we are reminded that Christ's journey did not end at the Resurrection.  Before ascending into Heaven, Jesus gathered HIS disciples and entrusted them with a mission: to go forth and share the Good News with the world.

The Ascension is not a moment of separation or abandonment.  Instead, it is a moment of hope, promise, and calling. Jesus returns to the Father, but HE remains with us through the Holy Spirit, through the Church, and through one another.  HIS Ascension reminds us that Heaven is our true destination and that our lives on Earth should reflect HIS love, mercy, and truth.

The Ascension also reminds us that we are never alone.  Jesus continues to guide HIS people, walking beside use through every joy, struggle, and uncertainty.  As HE ascended into glory, HE opened the path for all believers to one day share eternal life with HIM.

May this celebration inspire us to lift our hearts toward Heaven while keeping our hands ready to serve here on Earth.

Confirmed in Faith: Celebrating the Confirmation Class of 2026

On May 11, 2026, our parish community came together in joyful celebration as 98 young men and women received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a beautiful and faith-filled occasion as these newly confirmed youth took an important step in their spiritual journey, strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and called to go forth and spread the love and Word of God.

Among those 98 confirmandi was my own son, and as a parent, my heart is filled with immense pride and gratitude. Watching him stand together with his fellow classmates, professing their faith and embracing their calling as young disciples of Christ, was truly a blessing. On behalf of all the parents and families, we are incredibly proud of each and every confirmand who celebrated this special milestone.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Bishop Rey Bersabal for presiding over this sacred celebration and for his inspiring words to our youth and families. We are deeply grateful to Father Antonio Gutierrez, Father Brandon Meza, and Deacon Daniel Rangel for their spiritual leadership, guidance, and dedication in helping prepare and support our confirmandi throughout their faith journey.

This day would not have been possible without the dedication, guidance, and support of so many individuals who gave their time and talents to help prepare these young people for Confirmation. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our clergy, catechists, sponsors, ministry leaders, volunteers, choir members, staff, and everyone behind the scenes who helped make this celebration so meaningful and memorable.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen our newly confirmed youth as they grow in faith, courage, compassion, and service to others. We pray that they will continue to be shining lights in our Church and in the world.

Congratulations to the Confirmation Class of 2026!

A Blessed Visit: Relic of Blessed Michael J. McGivney at Our Parish (SJV)

We give thanks to God for the tremendous blessing of welcoming the relic of Blessed Michael J. McGivney to our parish.
As the founder of the Knights of Columbus, Blessed Father McGivney’s life continues to inspire us through his deep faith, compassion for others, and commitment to serving families and the Church.

It was a profound honor for our parish community to venerate a first-class relic—a sacred piece of his bone. This rare and meaningful opportunity allowed many of us to grow closer to Christ through prayer and to reflect on the call to live lives of charity, unity, and faith.

We hope that everyone had the opportunity to venerate the relic and have their prayer cards and rosaries blessed by reverently touching them to it.

May these blessed sacramentals serve as a reminder of God’s grace and the powerful intercession of Blessed Father McGivney, strengthening your faith and bringing comfort, peace, and protection to you and your families.

Mother's Day Breakfast - 2026

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

At SJV, we were blessed with an incredible day as many parishioners gathered together for the Mother’s Day Breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. It was truly heartwarming to see so many families, friends, and members of our parish community enjoying fellowship, laughter, and quality time together.

The event was filled with joy, gratitude, and community spirit, making it another successful and memorable breakfast celebration.

A special thank you goes out to all the volunteers, Knights, families, and supporters who gave their time, effort, and contributions to make this event possible. Your dedication and service continue to strengthen our parish community and reflect the spirit of faith, unity, and charity.

May God continue to bless all mothers and mother figures for the love, sacrifices, and guidance they provide each and every day.

Supporting Special Olympics with Heart and Brotherhood

On May 9th 2026, the Knights of Columbus proudly come together to provide meal preparation and support for the Special Olympians participating in the Spring Games at Vista Del Lago High School in Folsom.

Beyond serving meals, the day was filled with laughter, fellowship, camaraderie, and joyful moments shared among the Knights.  Events like these remind us that service is not only about giving back to the community but also about building friendships, strengthening brotherhood, and creating lasting memories together.

Continuing Our Pilgrimage Journey Together

As we continue to share more moments from our pilgrimage journey, we are reminded how truly blessed our parish community is to witness this beautiful experience of faith and fellowship.

These additional photos capture the joy, friendship, prayer, and spiritual reflection shared by Father Antonio Gutiérrez and our parishioners throughout their journey. Beyond visiting sacred and historic places, this pilgrimage has strengthened bonds within our parish family and deepened our connection with God.

Each image tells a story of gratitude, faith, and community — hearts united together in prayer and shared experiences.
We thank everyone for continuing to share these wonderful memories with our parish community.

Meet Your Neighbor - Building Community Together

This past weekend (5/3/2026), our parish came together for our Meet Your Neighbor gathering, and it was truly a joyful and meaningful time for all who attended.
Parishioners shared coffee and doughnuts while engaging in warm conversations, laughter, and fellowship. It was a beautiful opportunity to slow down, meet new faces, reconnect with familiar ones, and strengthen the sense of community that makes our parish so special.
Moments like these remind us that our church is more than just a place we attend—it is a family where we are called to know, support, and walk with one another in faith.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event so welcoming and memorable. We look forward to many more opportunities to gather and grow together as a parish community.
